Curlylocks- Enrapture Extremity heated rollers

It's not a secret that I'm a little bit cak handed and I'm just no good at blow drying my own hair - yes I attempt but it just lacks a little something and I'm never quite happy and end up tying it up anyway.
So when I can be bothered I turn my attention to my Enrapture Extremity heated rollers to add volume, bounce and a few curls for good measure. I really don't know why I haven't blogged about these before because I absolutley love them!
These roller's are so simple to use you dry the hair, pop them in and leave them to do there 'thang' while you do your 'thang' .
The beauty is that they heat from the core and the heated clip plates.  The rollers are hot in mere seconds and take about ten minutes to cool and set.
The velevety finish on the rollers mean there's no nasty pulling and they simply slide out.
SAFETY WARNING Whatever you do don't forget to turn the switch off when they have fully heated because they do get very hot and burn your ears a little.
I really like that you get two size rollers - the bigger for volume and the smaller for lovely defined curls.
They aren't the cheapest purchase but they certainly aren't the most expensive when you consider that a pair of GHD's cost £89 onwards.
For me there a great way of adding volume without having to faff on with the hair dryer and yet it still looks very polished.  And it's always fun to look like a ninny with these on your head - many of my friends are used to it now.
This may sound a bit adverty but I just have a little bit of a love affair with my heated rollers...
If these sound like your cup of tea you can pick them up here

you'll have to ignore my spot friend on my chinny chin chin :)

A trip into Boots ...

Unfortunatley this weekend I came down with a nasty dose of food poisoning( for some reason I always get ill) so my skin was suffering for some reason I'm not sure why or if it's even related. but I seem to of had a huge breakout does anyone else find they get bad skin when they are ill?
Back story aside I went into boots with the hope of finding something to clear up my skin problems and you know how it goes it's 3 for 2 and you have to take full advantage.
Here's a glimpse into what I picked up.

Soap and Glory Dr Spot- £8.00  This looked an interesting spot treatment which contains salicylic acid and lactic acids to refine pores and a blend of irritant soothers and redness reducers. What I really like is that it's invisible and drys quickly so it can be re-applied and popped under make up.
So far so good but I'll let you know how I find it in a few days.  Now I do have one gripe with the packaging of Dr Spot and that is that it looks a little bit like bonjela that you put on sore gums. The gel also comes out really fast so your left with a lot of gooey mess.

Soap and Glory Glow job - £11.00  This is a product marketed as a morning moisture flash that adds a hint of self-tan to the face... pefect for Spring. You massage the white pearlescent cream onto the face so that the microbronzeburst beads pop so your left with a subtle glow. This leaves a lovely healthy sheer glow whilst moisturising the skin. I think it will be just perfect for 'no-make up' days and good skin days. I think I had this a few years back and really enjoyed it but I do think it's since been re-packaged. Again I'm not too keen on the packaging because it reminds me of toothpaste are we noticing a pattern? but it's whats on the inside that counts .

Garnier Micellar cleansing water - £4.99   Now I'm not going to dwell to much on this purchase because I have another post planned for a comparison between the Bioderma and Garnier micellar waters.  But the premise is very similar it's a water that gently melts away the make up so the skin is left clean and refreshed.

#Nuxepamperhamper

I recently received an email asking if I'd be interested in entering the Nuxe Pamper hamper blogger competition and of course I jumped at the opportuinity. If you're an old friend on this blog then you'll know I'm a big fan of Nuxe products especially the Reve de Miel ultra-nourishing lipbalm.
The only rule of the competition was to compile a spring inspired wishlist of products for the perfect pamper.
Enough chit chat let's get down to the nitty gritty of what I'd choose for my perfect Nuxe Pamper hamper.

Huile Prodigieuse OR(link)-  I love the original Huile prodigieuse and cannot wait to try the shimmering golden version. Using this oil is a great way to add moisture to the skin and with this version containing golden particles it's a great way to add a healthy golden glow to the skin. Perfect for bringing a bit of life into those winter limbs.
Reve de Miel- Ultra-comfortable body cream(link)- I have this delicious scented body cream and love using it when my skin needs a hydration hit. It's the perfect end to a lovely relaxing bath . This cream is really comforting but if you feel you need an extra moisture hit - try mixing a little bit of this with a teeny bit of the huile prodigieuse.
Comforting cleansing milk with rose petals(link)-  I've used the Micellar water from this range and was really impressed. This cleansing milk caught my eye because it's a bit lighter for Spring after months of using heavy balms and oils. An added bonus is that if it's anything like the water then it's going to smell amazing , is there any Nuxe products that don't smell delicious?
Reve de miel lip moisturizing stick(link)-  And of course no Nuxe pamper post would be complete without my a nodd to my favourite lip balm. This stick version isn't as thick as the ultra-nourishing lipbalm but it still delivers a perfect dose of hydration. As it's in a tube it's perfect for chucking in your bag ready for any adventures that Spring may bring.
Teint E'clat Prodigieux(link)- This product looks so exciting and it's definetly on my 'to buy list'. This tinted moisturiser looks perfect for achieving that desirable golden glow and whats more it uses active plant ingridients. I really love using tinted moisturisers in the spring/summer because they really do help perk up dull skin.
Candle spa- Huile prodigieuse fragrance(link) - and what pamper session would not be complte without a beautiful candle. This one is fresh and uplifting with a delicious aroma of almonds. The perfect Spring scent.

I hope you enjoyed my selection and hopefully this has provided you with some NUXE spring time inspiration.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

February Favourites

This month's favourites is rather a mixed bag of some old and new favourites that I've enjoyed throughout this short month.

Beauty favourites -
Bright and bold.
I've been loving wearing a lot more colour on my lips I've really enjoyed bright bold lips or candy pinks - which is very unlike me . I really like pairing pink lips with a slick of black eyeliner there's something very classic and sixties about that look. My favourite lip products of February have been Mac Sunny Seoul ,YSL Rouge pur couture vernis A levres in the shade 09 (I think- It's rubbed off you see) and the Revlon lip butters in Raspberry pie and cotton candy .
Colourful talons.
Now Spring is on it's way I've really enjoyed wearing brighter colours on my nails. And I've rediscovered a love of the Barry M gelly nail paints You don't need a top coat , they dry super quickly and they are nice and shiny what more can a girl want ? I've really been loving greenberry and prickly pear.
And to the land of nodd.
It's a fairly well known fact that I'm not the best sleeper so I like to use different things to help me sleep and relax. I picked this up Boots as part of the This works dream believers set. In the set there was a sleep balm and this dream cream. Now I'm not as keen on the balm but I really love popping this cream on my arms and hands before nodding off.
A little skincare treat.
I really do love Kiehl's and I've always been really happy with everything I've tried and the creamy eye treatment doesn't disappoint. Once you get over the odd texture it really does hydrate the delicate eye area and doesn't cause make up to slide. I tend to use this in the morning or throughout the day when I've sat at the computer all day. It's quite nice to just pop it under the eyes and allowing it do sink in.

Everything else-
Bathing Beauty.
Another Lily flame candle I really do love these candles they aren't too expensive, look and smell lovely and there's a whole range of different scents to suit everyone and every room. Now my all time favourite is the rhubarb - I've used two up since Christmas is that bad? This Bathing beauty candle is an interesting scent that is pefect for lighting when have a pamper. I can't put my finger on the scent but it is lovely and relaxing.
Lets dance Snorkmaiden!
You may or may not know but I love the Moomins. My mum and I used to sit and watch it all the time and read the books(she worked in Finland so maybe that's why). There's something about those cute little creatures that makes my heart swoon .It would proably be fair to say that i own a fair bit of moomin related merchaindise- I have PJ's ,placemats, teddys, candle holders and now coasters. I was buying my Dad a birthday present and this just caught my eye , mainly because it's usually me asking everyone to dance when I have a glass of wine in my hand .

Something to look forward too...
PANCAKES!!! mmmm I cannot wait! I'm gunna make some gluten free ones to be a little healthier and I'll pop the recipe up tommorrow because there rather good for a sunday brunch too! I'm also cooking to be having a pancake battle with my American friend for our cooking blog that we are doing for University (feel free to check it out http://aandb.blogs.lincoln.ac.uk/)

No matter how long the Winter is the Spring is sure to follow OOTD

Sunglasses - $10
Coat - Asos £30
watch - Michael Kors
Shirt - Zara
Jeans - River Island £40
Boots - Shoe box

I thought I'd do a little OOTD post of what I wore yesterday to a local artists market and lunch at our favourite cafe.
I love this little quote(title) and it feels right for this time of the year , spring is definatly on it's way!
I really like this casual outfit even though it's a higgile de piggle of clothes from around the world.
I picked the sunglasses up from a store in Canada as I lost a couple of pairs . The skull skirt is from Zara in Palma about two years ago and I just love the pattern and think it's a perfect spring shirt.
The coat was an absolute steal from Asos, I was just scanning through the website when this caught my eye - I love the contrast sleeve look. It was reduced to like £30 from £70 so hey ho .
I like to keep accessories simple so popped on my usual rings which consist of a pandora ring, one form some jewelers in Spain and my engagement ring. I then slipped on my Michael Kors watch which I absolutly love - I don't really like big watches as they annoy me when I'm writing away so this was perfect .
Finally my boots are from a catalouge - I know I know I was a bit iffy to start with but my boyfriends mum pointed these out and I was sold!
so there you are a post about what I wore on the 1st of March . I'm going to pop my febuary favourites up tonight.

Battle of the body butters

Body butters are something that I never used to give too much thought to as long as it moisturised my scally bits and smelt nice I was generally happy . For this reason I tended to stick to the Body shop and Soap&Glory offerings .
These offerings provided me all the moisture I needed and I was a happy bunny , however before Christmas I was having a nosy in the Nottingham branch of Khiels and decided to pick up there infamous Creme de corps which as beautiful as it is certainly isn't the cheapest .
My appetite for more luxurious body butter's was wetted and when I saw this Laura Mercier fresh fig offering in the January sales I had to pick it up .
Last night I was doing some thinking in the bath(doesn't everybody think about beauty related things in the bath?) about whether paying extra for a body butter is worth it ?

Considering theres a £14 difference between the two there's not a lot in it to determine which is better.
The texture is very similar I'd probably say the Laura Mercier one is a little lighter in texture and absorbs a little quicker than the Body Shop's offering . However saying that it's so much easier to get the Body Shop butter out of the tub. They both smell gorgeous I'd maybe say I prefer the sweet fresh fig but that's personal and nothing to do with the price. They both also do what it says on the tin and provide rich hydration and soothe the skin.
So is it worth paying the extra doller for a body butter?
Honestly probably not It's a luxuary to be smothering yourself in the more expensive option so for the odd treat I'd happily plump for the Laura Mercier or Khiels butters but for everyday I'll probably just stick with the cheaper options. After all the Body Shops butters have been bestsellers for 20 years so they must be doing something right.

The Body shop butter - £12.50 (200ml)

What do you think is it worth paying a little extra when it comes to body butters?

Judy's affordable vintage fair

Vintage certainly isn't going anywere fast it just seems to go from strength to strength and this can be seen through a number of fairs popping up throughout the country.
Judy's affordable vintage fairs tour up and down the country bringing something new to each town everytime it pays a welcome visit.
These fairs were set up by ex-Selfridges personal shopper Judy Berger in 2005 as she "had nothing to wear!"(many a project must be based upon these words)
Just before the fair came to Lincoln(on the 15th of Febuary) I was lucky enough to interview the Emily Hughes the brand and event manager for Judy's affordable Vintage fair and thought I'd share it with you lovely bunch especially as she provides some great tips.

For those who may not be aware of Judy's Affordable Vintage fair could you give a little background to the event?
Founded through love, lust and a little frustration, "I had nothing to wear!" declares founder Judy Berger "and vintage was through the roof!"  The Affordable Vintage fair was born in 2005 and started in London. The mantra of Judy's has always been to host fairs filled to the rafters with the most affordable vintage in the land.

The event started in 2005 and is still going strong eight years on. What makes it so popular?
Vintage has gone from strength to strength since Judy started the company back in 2005. The formula of affordable vintage, great venues, fabulous traders and a loyal fan base means our events just keep getting better. There's lots 'vintage inspired' fashion on the high streets at the moment too, at our events you can pick up the genuine article at a snip of the price.

Having attended a number of the fairs myself it is clear to see that they have a wide appeal why do you think this is?
The beauty about these fairs is the wide demongraphic they do attract. You've got the true vintage lovers who wear vintage everyday to thrifty and fashionable students who are out to get themselves a bargain. I love seeing older customers too who get very nostalgic when they come to fairs(they saw it the first time round)!

Why did you decide to have a fair Lincoln?
Lincoln was a no-brainer for us! It's got such a thriving student commuinity and some fantastic vintage shops already with lots of true vintage fans. The thing about our events that Lincoln love is the variety of traders in once place(it's like a treasure trove)

Do you have any tips on how to make the most of the vintage fairs and bag a bargain?
1. Come with an open mind - why not try an era you've never dared to try before! Are you a 1950's fan- why not try a 60's look this season?
2.Bring friends- why not pick outfits for each other , you may suprise yourself and have a good laugh too.
3.Keep your eye out for a bargain- with £10 rails ,bargain boxes and plenty of affordable vintage offers this is the perfect time to grab yourself an absolute bargain. Have a good rummage too, you don't want to miss out on any vintage treasure.
4. Ask traders advice- If you are looking for something in particular then ask on of the traders. They are really knowledgeable about vintage fashion and give great style advice.
5.HAVE FUN!!! - get stuck in , shop till you drop and chill out at our vintage tea party.

Finally what has been your best vintage purchase?
Wow, I've never been asked that before funnily enough. I snapped up an amazing burgundy box bag at our Leeds event back in October and it was only £7- I get compliments about it all the time! (me- I must admit I love the colour and style of this bag - perfect for travelling in style. Below is the bag Emily talks about)

So there you have it I hope that's wetted your appetite for some vintage shopping and even if your not a huge vinatge fan I'd really advise checking out one of these fairs because they are a treasure trove of hidden gems and if anything else there's loads of yummy cake at the tea parties. I picked up a really cool pair of black leather shorts last time I went to this fair. Unfortuantely I couldn't go on the 15th because of the stupid flu (I was genuinelly gutted) but I still wanted to share this with you all anyway .

Click here to see if there's a fair coming to a town near you!

I'd just like to say another big thank you to Emily for answering my questions and providing the photographs :)
